Craig David Showcase

Posted in RnB, UK with tags , , , , , , on November 28, 2008 by dunknowdablogspot

To support his “Greatest Hits” package that came out this week (more on that below) Craig David appeared on the Belgium version of X Factor, to give a master class with the contestants and perform a live showcase. Why are we in the UK having artists like Britney do the same thing when we could have homegrown successful singers like Craig instead?

The delivery of the accoustic version of ‘Insomina’ shows just how good a singer Craig David is. Video below.

He also took part in an interview to discuss his new album and what we are to expect with regards to production and collaborations. Here’s hoping that he stays true to his word and heads down the route of a mixture of “Insomnia” type uptempo tracks and ballads in the same vein as “Walking Away”, avoiding the middle of the road material that has dominated his last two albums.

Craig David – Greatest Hits

As I mentioned above, this week Craig David released his “Greatest Hits” compilation. Currently this release looks likely to just scrape into the Top 40 when surely something like this should be going top 20 with ease?

Bad management, bad single/no single promotion (Insomnia charted at 43)? Who decided to release this in what was the biggest week of album releases for 2008?

I went out and purchased the disc on Monday, I knew what was going to be on it but I’m still a little dissapointed at the package put out. The main disc should have been trimmed down as some of the tracks on there are hits by no means, examples being “You Don’t Miss Your Water” & “Don’t Love You Know More”. Sometimes less is more!

As for the bonus disc I think they really dropped the ball with putting out the videos as Craig has never had the greatest videos anyway with the odd exception. Why didn’t they make it a remix disc (Think of all the Blacksmith, Ignorants, Sunship, Rishi Rich mixes etc that they could have chosen from) or even a disc showcasing accoustic performances?

Here’s hoping a new label & new management team will see Craig back on form for his 5th studio album!

Craig David & Tinchy Stryder

My brother had the privilage (or err maybe not) of working on this video and he did warn me last week that the graphics weren’t saying a lot due to an ultra tight schedule. Damn he weren’t wrong, this video is BUDGET!

I used to love Craig’s video’s back in the day from the “Fill Me In” era! Anyways “Where’s The Love” is out to download on the 10th November, 12″ vinyl is out NOW! The track is gonna be taken from his greatest Hits compilation.
